This piece of Baltic Amber has a lovely puffy coin shape and is colour graduated from lemon through to cognac. I have suspended it from a 925 Sterling silver twisted wire open cage. This ensures that the light can shine through, enhancing it whilst not covering its sun spangles. These are are tiny flat discs which sparkle when they catch the light. The beautiful sun spangles occur when the natural resin is heated to form this delicate shape.
The Baltic Amber is approximately 15mm in diameter, and hangs within a pendant which is approximately 2.5cm including the bail, suspended from a 45cm Belcher chain with bolt ring clasp. All 925 Sterling Silver.
It’s amazing to think that natural Baltic Amber is fossil resin produced by pine trees around 44 million years ago. Traditionally, Amber has been used for a variety of ailments, from teething pain to arthritis.
