When I design using malachite I want it to show the wonderful banding of each individual stone – no two are the same. In this piece I have selected a single beautiful 10mm stone and have suspended it from a 3.5 cm 925 Sterling silver rod allowing the stone’s full 360 degrees to be appreciated. The pendant measures 5.5cm including the bail, and is suspended from a 45cm Hammered Trace chain.
Malachite is a beautiful mineral that is known for its unusual rays and streaks of rich green which don’t fade over time. It was originally used as a source of copper and has been used for thousands of years for jewellery and sculpture.
Malachite is believed to be a protection stone, and is thought to absorb negative energies from the atmosphere and from the body. It is also carried to help with the fear of flying and is sometimes gifted to airline workers as a talisman against accidents.
